Abstract

This Regulation is to regulate the capture and importation of animals, except invertebrates, for the purpose of keeping them in captivity, and to set the conditions for keeping them in captivity and disposing of them. It also ensures the protection of the public, the welfare of animals and the conservation of wildlife. It is organised in 5 Parts and 7 Schedules. Part II concerns the conditions for the capture and for importing an animal into Québec, Part III lays down regulation on keeping animals in captivity, establishing different conditions for mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Part IV contains general dispositions on animals in captivity related to species reintroduction regime, selling rights, and rules to be respected during killing or euthanasia of a captive animal.
