Abstract This Regulation establishes the necessary water quality standards for surface waters, groundwater, coastal waters and waters of the territorial sea. This text also defines the specific water protection objectives, criteria for setting water protection objectives, conditions for extending deadlines for achieving of such water protection objectives, elements for assessing the status water, water monitoring issues and reporting rules. Article 2 sets out the list of transposed European Union documents. Specific water protection objectives are listed in article 4.
