Abstract

This Regulation determines the areas and scope of knowledge that a candidate must master in order to take the exam under the commercial fishing training program, the method of taking the exam, and the method of keeping records of issued certificates of completed exams. The training program for taking the exam determines the necessary skills and their scope in the following areas: knowledge of national regulations governing sea fishing, with an emphasis on fishing and the requirements of regulations governing nature conservation, veterinary medicine and food hygiene; knowledge of the basic fisheries regulations of the European Union, with an emphasis on knowledge of the contents of the Council and Commission regulations governing fishing in the Mediterranean sea and the duties of fishermen regarding sales and reporting; knowledge of the position of fishermen in the Republic of Slovenia; basic knowledge of marine ecology and environmental protection and nature conservation in it; knowledge of fishing vessels and fishing gear and their characteristics; knowledge of fishing techniques and methods; knowledge of living resources in the sea; basic knowledge of veterinary and food hygiene requirements; knowledge of the rules on the sale of the catch and on the fisherman's reporting obligations.
