Abstract This Regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which is composed of two articles and one Annex, defines the competences of the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing. The main statutory tasks of the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing are the following: (a) maintaining the national list of plant varieties; (b) maintaining the register of varieties covered by plant breeders' rights; (c) drawing up national guidelines on distinctness, uniformity and stability testing based on the European Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) Protocols and on the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) guidelines; (d) developing valuation methods for cultivation and use assessment; (e) carrying out tests and assessment for the purpose of updating the list of varieties and granting plant breeders' rights; (f) granting of authorizations for the marketing of seed.
