Abstract This Regulation, based on the provisions of the national Law on packaging management and packaging waste, prescribes the manner of keeping, the form and closer contents of the database and related information system that contains data con packaging and waste deriving from packaging. If available also the following data shall be kept: (a) production, import and export data on empty packages; (b) details of repackaging packages that are used; (c) special packaging components, such as composite packaging; (d) the levels of concentration of heavy metals present in packaging and the presence of harmful and other hazardous substances and materials; (e) packaging waste deemed to be hazardous due to contamination with ingredients of contained products. This text is harmonized with the Commission Decision of 22 March 2005 establishing the formats relating to the database system pursuant to Directive 94/62/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on packaging and packaging waste.
