Abstract

This Regulation implements Measure I.9, which involves the temporary cessation of sardine fishing by surrounding purse seiners in January and February 2023. The regulation outlines the execution of support under Measure I.9, falling under Priority 1 of the EU's initiative for sustainable fisheries and conservation of biological resources. This aligns with Croatia's Fisheries and Aquaculture Program for 2021-2027. Criteria for eligibility during the suspension period include possessing a valid fishing license, having an operational fishing vessel, and providing confirmation if the vessel is undergoing inspection for renewal of class and seaworthiness. Beneficiaries are required to adhere to specified conditions from Article 4, paragraph 2, for the duration between applying for support and five years post the final payment. Additionally, they must maintain transparent financial records related to the funded operation, including support disbursement to crew members, highlighting its origin from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund.
