Country/Territory Bosnia and Herzegovina Territorial subdivision Federation BiH Document type Regulation Date 2013 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Water Keyword Surface water Groundwater Classification/declassification Water quality standards Monitoring Policy/planning Ecosystem preservation Coastal zone management Geographical area Europe, Europe and Central Asia, Mediterranean, Southern Europe Entry into force notes This text entered into force on the day after its publication in the Official Gazette (published in January 2014). Abstract This Regulation here prescribes: 1. methodology for determining the types of surface water bodies and characterization of surface and groundwater bodies; 2. reference conditions for classification of ecological status and permissible limit values of chemical quality parameters for chemical condition classification of surface water bodies; parameters of quantitative and chemical quality for the classification of water conditions of groundwater bodies; 4. monitoring and content of related water monitoring programmes. This text shall apply primarily to the preparation of water management plans for water areas in order to determine the state of surface and groundwater, and in order to determine the proper type of measures that shall be implemented by these monitoring programmes. Thesee measures are aimed at: a) achieving good status (good potential) of surface waters; b) achieving good groundwater status; c) protection of associated ecosystems; d) prevention of further deterioration as well as for gradual improvement of overall water conditions. This Regulation applies to all waters (rivers, lakes, coastal sea waters and groundwater), excluding mineral and thermal waters.
