Abstract This Regulation sets forth the minimum standards for care and rearing conditions of laying hens, according to their growth, adaptation and domestication and also to the physiological and ethological needs. This Regulation does not cover breeders and businesses which have less than 350 laying hens. This Regulation is drafted in accordance with Council Directive 1999/74/EC laying down minimum standards for the protection of laying hens and Commission Directive 2002/4/EC on the registration of establishments keeping laying hens, covered by Council Directive 1999/74/EC.
