Abstract In order to prevent possible occurrence and spread of classic swine fever, the following measures will be adopted on the whole Croatian territory: a) prohibition of drinking when feeding pigs; b) prohibition of the transportation and movement of pigs outside the farm or yard for natural mating in other farms or gardens; c) prohibition of the entry of breeding pigs on other farms for mating; d) prohibition on placing on the market pig meat directly from the yard; e) prohibition on keeping pigs grazing, unless the pigs are kept open and constantly monitored and protected by the holder and held in an area that is registered as such in the Unified Register of domestic animals, and has a unique identification number (JIBG) and other information requested in accordance with special regulations; f) the holder of pigs kept in the manner as provided in subparagraph (e) of this part, shall ensure that domestic pigs are completely isolated from wild boar, so that they cannot come into direct or indirect contact with each other; g) orders to carry out disinfection of vehicles when entering and exiting from the fair; h) application of security measures on pigs showing signs of classic swine fever, or on dead wild and domestic pigs, in order to ensure the possible presence of the disease using laboratory methods for analyzing organs and rests; i) for each antibiotic used in pigs, after 5 days when there was a drop in body temperature and improved health status, official veterinarian shall take samples for laboratory examination to rule out classic swine fever; j) prevention of direct or indirect contact between domestic and wild pigs on farms; k) the holder of domestic pigs has to avoid direct and indirect contact with wild pigs and implement preventive biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of introducing viral pathogens of classic swine fever in the breeding of domestic pigs; l) vehicles carrying pigs from the holding must be washed and disinfected before loading.
