Abstract This Regulation sets out the requirements that drinking water must meet in order to protect the human health from the harmful effects of possible drinking water pollution. Drinking water is: water in its original state or after preparation, intended for drinking, cooking, preparing food or for other household purposes, regardless of its origin and whether supplied from the water supply network of the drinking water supply system, tanks or as pre-packaged water; all water used for the production and marketing of foodstuffs (definitions in article 2).
