Abstract This Regulation sets forth the rules and procedures for the protection and fight against foot and mouth disease and rules and procedures to be implemented in case of outbreak the disease. The Regulation emphasises on precautions and fight against these diseases under different titles such suspicion of contagious disease outbreak, notification and confirmation of the disease, measures to be taken at focal points where the disease outbreak and measures to be taken at facilities. The Regulation further covers provisions on disinfection, protection and surveillance zones and provisions on the animal products produced in protection and surveillance zones. The Regulation lastly emphasises on foot and mouth disease vaccines, reference laboratories, institute of foot and mouth disease, emergency action plan and control centers. This Regulation is drafted in accordance with the European Council Directive 2004/85/EC.
