Abstract The purpose of the Regulation is to preserve a virtually untouched island - Bjørnøya Natural Reserve - formed by an ecosystem, unique geology, wild flora and fauna , which land is delimited by the territorial waters to 12 nautical miles. In the period from 1 April to 31 August it is forbidden to fly closer than 1 nautical mile from known concentrations of birds and mammals in the area, as well as to cause severe noise.
