The area consists of the following four zones: (i) central zone, which has natural and biodiversity values; (ii) zone of sustainable use, which surrounds the central area as its buffering zone; (iii) recreational zone, which offers recreation possibilities and facilities (it includes forests, pastures, meadows and agricultural lands); and (iv) zone of traditional use, where both licenced traditional and new activities are allowed. The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Waters Administration is responsible for preparing the protected area management plans and revising the licences issued for economical and social activities.
