Abstract

The purpose of the present Regulation, issued by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, is to ensure the welfare and good conditions of animals during transport and to prevent the spread of animal diseases during the transport of animals. It applies to all transport of animals, and covers also traditional annual movements to or from pasture. The Regulation contains 16 articles divided into the following chapters: I. Objectives, scope and definitions; II. Conditions for transporting animals; III. Moving of animals; and IV. Coercive measures and sanctions.
