Abstract The Regulation makes provision for the establishment and organization of the Network as well as the activities of the National system for water monitoring on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The text of the Regulation is divided into eight Chapters, Additional, Transitional and Final Provisions. The Chapters deal with the following: general requirements (1); functioning of the networks for monitoring the rain and snowfalls with respect to surface waters, groundwater and the Black Sea coast (2, 3 and 4, respectively); control of waste waters (5); conditions and requirements for self-monitoring (6); requirements for the maintenance and laboratory service of the water monitoring Network, as well as the information and communications backup of the National water monitoring system (7); management of the National water monitoring system (8).
