This Regulation remains valid until 31 December 2019.
Abstract

This Reulation prohibits in principal the hunting of minke whales in 2019. However, the total allowable catch for Norwegian vessels in the areas of the Norwegian Economic Zone, the Fisheries Protection Zone of Jan Mayen, the Fisheries Protection Zone of Svalbard for 2019 and specified areas of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) is fixed at 1278 whales. The Director of Fisheries can stop fishing if the total allowable catch is reached. Hunting may take place from 1 April. Vessels shall have an approved tachograph on board and the Directorate of Fisheries may impose the duty to host an inspector or observer on board. Vessels that are not subject to the obligation of electronic catch reporting shall keep a catch diary as prescribed by the Fisheries Directorate. The Directorate shall have powers to issue additional rules concerning minke whale hunting.
