Abstract

It is prohibited to hunt whales, however it is permitted to Norwegian vessels to engage in hunting for minke whale following authorization by the Fishing Directorate and only for a maximum quota of 1 286 in the Norwegian Ecoomic Zone by Svalbard, in the fishery area of Jan Mayen and in the international waters within the IWC areas of ESB, EW, EN and CM. The hunting may begin as of 1 April.
