This Regulation enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Regulation is composed of 14 articles. Articles 1 and 2 contain terms and definitions. The Park's perimeter extends north to the Marine Science Station, south to the Public Security Officers Club, east to 50 metres of the high tide point and west along the shore to 350 metres of the high tide point (art. 3). The Park shall aim at achieving the following: (a) preservation of the environment and protection of natural resources; (b) improvement of the Park’s shores and waters; (c) maintenance of the public safety by regulating and monitoring public activities; (d) management and safeguard of scientific, tourist, recreational, navigational and commercial activities; (e) the rehabilitation of coral reefs and other natural resources by implementing, monitoring and updating scientific research programmes; and (f) prevention of adverse impacts by facilitating and monitoring the conduct of scientific research programmes (art. 4). Article 5 establishes the Aqaba Marine Park Committee in charge of the administration and management of the Park. Articles 6-8 deal with the management of the Park, annual plans of the Park, and responsibilities and competences of the committee. Activities prohibited in the Park are: hunting, transferring, killing or harming marine and land animals; hunting or transferring any creatures or organic products such as shells, coral reefs, rocks or soil without a previous authorization or permit issued by the Chief Commissioner of the Park; destroying or transferring plants; damaging facilities and equipment; destroying or damaging wildlife habitats; introducing exotic or alien animals or plants into the Park; polluting soil, water or air; littering the beach or the sea; and camping in the park (art. 12). Article 13 contains offences and penalties. The Board of the Park shall issue the necessary instructions and directives for the implementation of this Regulation (art. 14).
