Abstract The purpose of the Regulation is to preserve a virtually untouched forest area in the limited area of Store Snipen in Telemark. The area has a special scientific value as rough grown elm-linden forests consisting of dead wood, hollow trees and rough heals, and the presence of several rare and endangered species of wood-inhabiting fungi and lichens. The objective is to maintain conservation values in the most untouched state, and possibly developing them.
