Abstract

The purpose of the nature reserve is to manage and protect a distinctive feature of woodland area of 3 564 acres with great variety of important elements for biological diversity, such as a large contiguous ravine system with varied topography and rare nature types as damp rock walls and forest environment (rainforest). The area has a special educational and scientific nature value as the largest recorded ravine systematic in Norway, with unusually well developed elm, and many other rare and threatened species. It is the Regulation's objective to retain protective values in as much as possible untouched condition, and possibly develop dei further.
