Abstract The purpose of this Regulation is to protect Moldberget Nature Reserve preserving an untouched forest area of a well-developed southern boreal mixed forest. Furthermore, the purpose of this document is to preserve an area of particular value for biodiversity, habitat, ecosystems, plant and animal species and natural ecological processes. The Nature Reserve includes a number of rare and threatened species. Ancient forests of this kind are rare in the region and the objective is to maintain conservation values in the most untouched state, and possibly developing them. The natural reserve runs through location/BNR.: 74/9, 74/16, 74/36, 74/42, 74/45, 74/46, 74/60, 74/12 in Sør-Aurdal municipality and covers a total area of approx. 3 390 acres.
