Abstract It is prohibited for Norwegian vessels to fish and land horse mackerel in 2015. Notwithstanding this provision, Norwegian vessels fishing and landing a total 42 690 tons horse mackerel in the territorial waters and economic zone, fishery zone around Jan Mayen, fishery protection zone around Svalbard and in international waters are authorized to such activities. Norwegian vessels may fish up to 3 550 tons horse mackerel in EU waters in ICES statistical area IV. Caught horse mackerel as bycatch whilst fishing for other species is permitted. Non-compliance with such provisions shall be fined according to Act No. 37 (art. 59) and Regulation No. 1437.
