Abstract

It is not permitted to Norwegian vessels to fish and land herring in the following areas in 2014: the North Sea, Norway's territorial waters and economic zone south of 62°N bound on the east by a straight line through Hanstholmen and Lindesnes, and in EU waters in ICES area IV statistics. In the Skagerrak outside the Norwegian baseline and further bound to the west by a straight line through from Hanstholmen, Lindesnes lighthouse and on the south by a straight line through the Skagen lighthouse to Tistlarna outside 4 nautical miles off the Swedish and Danish baselines. Exception is however made to Norwegian vessels participating in the fishing and landing for a maximum of 137 589 tonnes of herring in Norwegian waters of the North Sea. Of this quantity 440 tons shall be allocated for research and educational purposes. Norwegian fishing vessels may fish up to 2 200 tons of herring in Norwegian waters of Skagerrak outside the baseline.
