Abstract The Regulations applies to foreign fishing in Norwegian marine waters and sets guidance on fishing activities by Russian vessels in the Norwegian economic and fishing zones around Jan Mayen - located between 12 and 200 nautical miles from the Norwegian coast. Although Russian ships are banned from fishing in these marine areas, they are only permitted to fish for limited quantities of cod, haddock, capelin, halibut, sebastes marinus and sebastes mentella (as bycatch), saithe, catfish and spring-spawning herring. The quota shall also apply to the fishery zone around Jan Mayen, where 3 000 tons of other species can be cought as bycatch; up to 8 000 tons of quota for pollock may be fished. Remaining quantities may be caught as bycatch when fishing for cod and haddock with a max. of 5% for each catch of fishing for herring.
