Abstract This Regulation applies to Norwegian vessels (cargo ships, passenger ships, mobile units and barges) and sets regulations on the navigation aids for vessels. Regulations requirements for facilities, equipment, installations etc. shall be documented and detailed. Updated official nautical charts and nautical publications shall be kept on board so that positions can be monitored throughout their navigations. ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) meets these requirements. For systems installed before 1 January 1999, feature standard MSC.232 (82) should be applied. An updated version of Volume III of IAMS Handbook (International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue) must be on board.
