Abstract

This Regulation, made also under the Swedish Environmental Code, defines rules to implement provisions of Regulation (EU) No 511/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council on compliance measures for users from the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization in the Union and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1866 of 13 October 2015 laying down detailed rules for the implementation of Regulation (EU) No 511/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the register of collections, monitoring user compliance and best practices. The Environmental Protection Agency shall be the competent authority for the Council Regulation and shall handle applications made under Article 5.2 of that Regulations. The obligations of Article 7 (2) of Regulation (EU) No 511/2014 and of Article 5(1) to (3) of Regulation (EU) 2015/1866 also apply to those using such traditional knowledge referred to in Chapter 8, section 5, second paragraph, the Environmental Code.
