Abstract This Regional Legislative decree is composed of eight Chapters divided in 40 articles. It revises the Azores regional network of Protected Areas providing a new classification of the existing ones, according to the classification adopted by IUCN. Moreover, the Decree regulates the basic network of regional protected areas according to Natura 2000 Network. Finally, it regulates protected areas’ management structures as well as applicable sanctions.
