Abstract This Law regulates relations in the field of organization, protection and use of protected areas for the purpose of conservation of the unique and typical natural complexes and objects, notable natural reserves, plant and wildlife species, their genetic stock, keeping of biosphere sustainability and control over its change, balanced solution of social and economic problems and ecological education of the population. The document consists of V Sections that contain 16 Articles. Section I (arts. 1-3) lays down general provisions. Section II (Arts.4-7) determines plenary powers of executive bodies and local self-government in the sphere of organization and functioning of protected areas. Section III (Arts.8-13) regards formation and functioning of protected areas. Section IV (art. 14) regards organization of the protection of regional protected areas.
