This Regional Law enters into force on 1 January 2020.
Abstract

This Regional Law establishes powers of the regional state executive bodies in the field of handling and treatment of animals and delegates to local government some state powers related to organization of arrangements for handling ownerless animals. The arrangements for handling and treatment of animals shall include: (a) capture of ownerless animals, including their transport and immediate transfer to animal shelters; (b) keeping of ownerless animals in animal shelters; (c) return of lost animals to their owners, as well as search of new owners for ownerless animals admitted to animal shelters; (d) return of ownerless animals that do not manifest unmotivated aggression, to their previous habitats; and (e) accommodation and keeping of animals in shelters for ownerless animals who can't be returned to their former habitats, until such animals are handed over to their new owners.
