Keyword EIA Access-to-information Institution Offences/penalties Basic legislation Geographical area Alps, Europe, Europe and Central Asia, European Union Countries, Mediterranean, Southern Europe Abstract By enacting the present Regional Act the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, in compliance with the provisions laid down in Directive 85/337/EEC, regulates the environmental impact assessment to be carried out with respect to the projects and plans defined under article 5. The assessment shall focus on the impact that the project in question may have on human beings, fauna, flora, soil, water, air, climate and landscape. Particular regard shall be given to sensitive areas as defined by article 7. Chapter III of the Act describes the procedure to be followed. Chapter IV establishes penalties. Chapter V defines the institutional framework competent in this field. In particular, article 22 sets up the Regional Technical Committee, whereas article 23 provides for the establishment of the Technical and Advisory Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment.
