Abstract

In the light of the precautionary principle, this Regional Act lays down particular rules governing the use of genetically modified organisms, with a view to preserving the genetic resources of the Region as well as protecting the agricultural production. Article 2 prohibits the cultivation of genetically modified plant species. Breeding genetically modified animals is forbidden as well. Article 3 concerns the promotion of research and experimentation in this particular field. Article 9 sets out administrative sanctions.
