The Authority shall govern the basins defined by article 1, paragraph 1 and coordinate, control and verify the application of programmes related to regional basins. The aims particularly pursued are soil conservation, the maintenance of quality characteristics of water bodies, water resources protection and rational use, ecosystem preservation (art. 1, par. 2). Regional basins are delineated by the cartography attached to this Act. The Authority for Regional Basins consists of an Institutional Committe (whose assignments are listed out in article 5) and a Technical Committee (art. 7).
