Article 2 of this Regional Act lays down basic provisions governing such protected landscapes. Within six months from the date of entry into force of these provisions, the Regional Council shall approve the objectives and directives relating to the protecting and planning of protected landscapes. The Council shall in particular define those activities which shall be prohibited within the protected landscapes, namely quarrying, waste disposal and the release of genetically modified organisms (both of plant and animal origin).
