Abstract

The Regulations make provision with respect to the quality of shellfish waters. They shall apply to the coastal and brackish waters designated by the competent authority as needing protection or improvement in order to support shellfish life and growth and thus contribute to a high quality of shellfish products intended for human consumption. The parameters that shall apply to waters designated by the Authority are listed in Annex I to these Regulations. The Authority shall set values for each parameter in accordance with comments contained in the specified column of Annex I. The Authority shall also establish pollution reducing programmes, carry out sampling operations and publish periodically information designation of waters and parameters. Offences and penalties are prescribed. (16 regulations completed by one Schedule)
