Abstract The purpose of the present Act is to accelerate the expansion of Germany’s transmission grids. It describes 22 projects given “absolute priority” for future power supply and also regulates the use of high voltage underground cables in the transmission grid, the adaptation, development and expansion of the transmission grids for the integration of electricity from renewable energy sources, for the interoperability of the electricity grids within the European Union , to connect new power plants or to avoid structural bottlenecks in the transmission network.
