Abstract

These Regulations establish a licensing regime for the fishing of Mackerel by Irish polyvalent vessels exceeding a certain size. A polyvalent vessel is a vessel in relation to which there is in force a licence under section 222B of the of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act 1959 as inserted by section 4 of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act 2003. Fishing licences for this kind of vessel may be granted or renewed at the discretion of the Minister, who may attach to a polyvalent mackerel licence conditions as specified in these Regulations.
