Abstract

The Regulations provide for inspectors to conduct surveillances so as to collect and document pest information that will help to establish pest free areas, update pest list, delimit an area for the presence or absence of a pest, among others. These surveillances may be conducted in warehouses, containers, water bodies, forests, plantations and plant habitats generally. The inspection is followed by a report which usually shows the sampling method used, the identity of pest, pest status, assumption made from the collected data, among others. Furthermore, the Regulations provide phytosanitary measures for the imports, exports, transits or re-imports of consignments.
