Abstract

These Regulations implement provisions of the Petroleum Act with respect to (applications for) oil exploration licences and oil prospecting licences and relative operations of boreholing and oil extraction. They also set out rights and powers of licensees and lessees under the Act and require licensee or lessee shall adopt all practicable precautions, including the provision of up-to-date equipment approved by the Director of Petroleum Resources, to prevent the pollution of inland waters, rivers, watercourses, the territorial waters of Nigeria or the high seas.
