Abstract

These Regulations amend the Pest Control Products (Registration) Regulations, 1984 by, among other things: adding definitions of "accredited scientists/institution", "biochemical pesticide", "experimental permit" and "microbial and macrobial biopesticide"; making provision for the authorization by the pest Control Products Board of introducing a pest control product for efficacy testing; an application for registration of a synthetic or conventional pest control product; and a certificate of registration. The Regulations also provide that the use of genetically modified organisms and living modified organisms as macrobial biopesticides shall comply with any other existing laws governing such organisms before an application is made to the Board.
