Abstract

These Regulations give effect in Ireland to Regulation (EC) No. 850/2004 as amended. The EC Regulation is intended to ensure coherent and effective implementation of the European Community’s obligations under the 2001 Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the 1998 Protocol on Persistent Organic Pollutants to the 1979 UNECE Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution. These Regulations designate the Environmental Protection Agency as the competent authority for the purposes of Regulation. These Regulations create also offences for non-compliance with specified requirements of Regulation (EC) 850/2004 and these Regulations.
