An Act to help protect human health and the environment against adverse effects resulting or likely to result from human activities which modify or are likely to modify the ozone layer and to implement in New Zealand the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

This Act enters into force on 16 September 1996.
Abstract

This Act, consisting of 5 Parts and three Schedules, aims at protecting the environment from adverse effects resulting from human activities which modify or are likely to modify the ozone layer, eliminating ozone depleting substances as soon as possible except for essential uses, and at giving effect to New Zealand's obligations under the Convention and the Protocol.
