Abstract

The present Ordinance implements the Council Directive 76/160/EEC concerning the quality of bathing water. The Ordinance applies to surface waters generally used as bathing waters. Quality requirements of bathing waters are laid down in the Annex according to article 5. The Ordinance establishes therefore specific standards, thresholds and approximate values in order to qualify them. If waters are unsuitable for bathing, an express bathing prohibition shall be issued with clear indications of the areas to which it applies. Bathing water is unsuitable for bathing if it does not meet one of the microbiological parameters laid down in the Annex. The present Ordinance consists of 8 articles and 1 Annex.
