Entry into force notes
The present Ordinance enters into force on 6 May 1989.
Abstract

The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the enforcement of legislation concerning protection of the environment. Article 1 establishes that the Environmental Protection and Water Management Office enforces the Federal Environment Protection Act, unless the federal or cantonal legislation contains contrary provisions. The Office ensures cooperation with other law enforcement authorities. The text consists of 39 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Air pollution (II); Noise pollution (III); Environmentally hazardous substances (IV); Waste (V); Soil pollution (VI); Protection against major accidents (VII); Beverage packaging (VIII).
