Abstract

This Order determines the implementation of special surveillance aimed to determine the presence of fungus Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilbersky) Percival, the cause of potato cancer (potato wart disease), determining its prevalence, measures to be taken in case of its occurrence in order to prevent its spread, to establish control in the areas, to carry out eradication, as well as the procedures for laboratory examination. These measures, taken in order to destroy the above mentioned plant harmful organism, are aimed at: (a) locate and determine its prevalence and distribution, (b) prevent its occurrence, introduction and spread in the interior and (c) if its presence is determined in potato plants, to prevent its further spread and to bring it under control. This Order complies with the provisions of Council Directive 69/464/EEC of 8 December 1969 on control of Potato Wart Disease.
