Order on measures to prevent the occurrence and spread of avian influenza on the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

Abstract

This Order, due to the very high risk of the appearance and spread of avian influenza and for the purpose of its early detection and prevention of further spread, here implements the following measures on the entire territory of the Republic of Croatia at all facilities where poultry and birds are kept in captivity: 1. closing and keeping all poultry and birds in captivity in closed enclosures; 2. separate keeping of domestic ducks and geese from other types of poultry; 3. use of external water tanks for poultry and captive birds shall be prohibited; 4. it is prohibited to supply poultry with water from surface water tanks to which wild birds have access; 5. mandatory provision and maintenance of hygienic conditions and biosecurity measures in all facilities and locations where poultry and birds are kept in captivity: a. use of protective footwear and clothing, disinfection of hands and footwear upon entering the facility, cleaning, washing and disinfection of footwear upon exiting the facility, b. it is forbidden to leave the facility in the same protective clothing and shoes, c. prohibition of entry to the facility to unauthorized persons, d. disinfection of facilities and equipment in accordance with technological requirements, using an approved disinfectant in the prescribed concentration, e. keeping feed and bedding in facilities protected from wild birds and rodents; 6. it is mandatory to implement hygiene and biosecurity measures during the transportation of poultry, hatching eggs and captive birds, their products and by-products, including carcasses of poultry and captive birds; 7. mandatory reporting of all changes in the health status and behavior of poultry, reduction in production, reduced intake of food and/or water, and deaths of poultry and birds in captivity to the competent authorized veterinary organization; 8. hunting licensees are obliged to ensure the implementation of biosecurity measures from Annex I of this text.
