Abstract

This Order applies to imports into Denmark and imports via Denmark to another country commercial food, which is subject to particular restrictions. If non-animal origin food is imported from other EU Member States, provisions of regulations for certain contaminants in foodstuffs shall apply. Regarding import of food of animal origin, the provisions of this Order shall be implemented in conjunction with regulations pertaining veterinary inspections on their import in adherence to EU provisions. Certain food is not eligible for import in Denmark, however these restrictions are revoked in case pest and disease tests have been carried out by approved laboratories and resulting harmless to human health. The following commodities are subject to inspection tests: mussels or living fish and mussels transported in water from Albania for Cholera (Article 5), for histamine on Scombridae, Clupeidae, Coryfenidae, Pomatomidae and Scombresosidae (Art. 6). Crustaceans from Bangladesh for chloramphenicol, metabolites of nitrofurans, tetracycline, malachite green and crystal violet (Art. 7), for classic swine pest in meat from Bulgaria (Art. 8) and mouth and foot disease (Art. 9). It is prohibited to import fish products from the Republic of Guinea (Art. 11), aquaculture products from India – if not tested for pests, particularly for chloramphenicol, metabolites of nitrofurans, tetracycline, malachite green and crystal violet (Art. 12), for dioxins and pentachlorophenol (Art. 31) and pesticides (Art. 32), for African swine pest originating from Italy (Art. 13). It is prohibited to import food originating from animals from China (Art. 15), non-EU approved and GMO commodities (Art. 16, 34). For classic swine pest from Croatia (Art. 17), for African and classical swine pest from Latvia (Art. 18), African swine pest from Lithuania (Art. 20). Danish Veterinary and Food Administration lays down the procedures for measures taken pursuant to hormones found in meat and meat products from Mexico (Art. 21) and related to the documentation submitted at border inspection posts for import authorization. For hepatitis A from Peru (Art. 22), for African swine pest from Poland (Art. 23), for classic swine pest from Romania (Art. 24), avian influenza, subtype H5N1 from Switzerland (Art. 25) for antimicrobial substances, nitrofurans and their metabolites from Thailand (Art. 26), Escherichia coli and marine biotoxins from Turkey (Art. 27), for salmonella from Bangladesh (Art. 30). Radioactive substances from Japan and other third countries (Chapter 12, 31), for aflatoxins, pathogens and radioactivity in food and various other contaminants (Chapters 34-39). Penalties for non-compliance with the Order’s provisions are listed under Chapter 38.
