Abstract

This Order approves the Regional Forestry Planning Programme of Lisbon and Tagus Valley ("Vale do Tejo") (PROF LVT). This Programme, consisting of 52 articles divided into five Chapters and four Annexes including five Geographical maps, establishes the Regional Forestry Planning Programmes (PROF) as sectoral policy instruments at the national level, under the terms established by Law No. 31/2014, of May 30, and developed by Decree-Law No. 80/2015 of 15 May, which define a forestry strategic framework guidelines and specific rules on the use, occupation, and management at regional level, in order to promote and guarantee the production of goods and services and the sustainable development of these forests. The PROF pursues a multi functional approach, integrating the following general functions of forestry areas: a) Production; b) Protection; c) Conservation of habitats, species of fauna and flora and geomonuments; d) Silvo-pastoralism, hunting and fishing in inland waters; e) Recreation and appreciation of the landscape. This PROF implements the National Programme for Territorial Planning Policy, being compatible with other sectoral and special programmes, ensuring the contribution of the forestry sector to the preparation and modification of other territorial management instruments. The rules of the PROF of Lisbon and Tagus Valley regulating the occupation, use and transformation of the forestry soil, must be integrated in the Municipal Territorial Plans (PTM) and in the Inter-municipal Territorial Plans (PTIM).
