Abstract Commercial salmon-fishing is subject to licence and registration to Greenland Fishery License Control (GFLK); the government sets each year a maximum quota for West Greenland whereby ratio can be divided into sub-quotas; when these are approaching exhaustion/depletion, the Directorate for Commerce shall notify when fishing and commerce of salmon catch should be discontinued. Methods of fishing are also underlined in this Order and may only take place by hooks or nets with a mesh size of the stretched target measuring min. 140 mm. Drift nets may be used not more than 20 lengths at a time. Leisure salmon-fishing is permitted, provided licensees are of Danish citizenship and/or residing in Greenland.
