Abstract

This Order validates the Regulation on the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences as protected natural area of federal significance (located in Novosibirsk region) as protected natural area of federal significance, defines tasks, scientific profile of the institution as botanical. The main purpose of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences shall be performance of fundamental research and applied developments in the field of biodiversity of the flora of Siberia, its structural and dynamic organization; development of the concept of biodiversity conservation at various levels of its organization; preservation and enrichment of the gene pool of natural flora by methods of acclimatization, introduction and breeding of plants; rational use of plant resources. The main tasks of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences shall be as follows: (a) study of adaptive strategies, phytocenotic, ecological and chorological features of the vegetation cover of Siberia; (b) identification of taxonomic diversity of higher vascular plants, algae, lichens and fungi of Siberia, solving the problems of taxonomy, phylogeny and evolution of polymorphic taxa; (c) development of theoretical foundations and methods for preserving plant gene pool; (d) introduction of rare and economically valuable plant species in botanical gardens of Siberia; (d) development of effective methods for the introduction and selection of edible, medicinal and decorative plants in Siberia; (e) creation of special collections of plants in order to preserve biodiversity and enrichment of flora of Siberia, preservation of natural environment and natural landscapes; (f) development of methods for environmental education; (g) popularization and propaganda of bioecological knowledge; (h) promoting the development of dendrolandscape and phytodesigner culture, medicinal and other plant growing in the region; (i) preservation in artificial conditions of collections of living plants (especially rare and endangered species) and other botanical species of great scientific, educational, economic and cultural value; (j) research; and (k) conducting educational, pedagogical and scientific work in the fields of botany and nature protection, plant growing and selection, decorative gardening and landscape architecture.
