Abstract This Order sets regulations on the introduction of quality assurance at public water supply systems through the introduction of a management framework which ensures systematic work practices to prevent pollution of drinking water. Public water supplying 17 000 m3 of water every year or more shall introduce quality assurance by mapping the entire water supply and the quality thereof, by identifying water supply management procedures, including procedures for normal operation, cleaning, sampling, repair and new construction, by assessing the risks of contamination of water from individual components, inappropriate structures and maintenance as well as the operational processes for prioritizing high risks of contamination of the water. A public water system supplying more than 750 000 m3 of water each year shall comply the requirement of introducing ISO22000, or systems based on HACCP principles (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) such as Documented Drinking Water Safety or equivalent systems.
